Biography:

Before coming to ICTP, Michelcich worked eight years for the Italian primary insurance company Istituto Nazionale delle Assicurazioni, acquiring a broad knowledge of all insurance policies as well as other financial products available on the market.
He joined ICTP in 1982 in the position of Accountant and deputy Supervisor Financial Services; since then he was assigned progressively increasing responsibilities and duties. In 1990, after one year of temporary assignment, he was officially appointed to the position of Finance Officer. In this capacity, he participated actively in the coordination and discussions of all administrative aspects connected with the transfer of the administrative responsibility of ICTP from IAEA to a more autonomous set-up under the administrative responsibility of UNESCO, effective from 1 January 1996. On this occasion he led the creation and implementation of the new budgetary, accounting and financial systems which are currently in use at ICTP.
He was promoted to Senior Budget and Finance Officer in 2007.

Responsibility:

Responsible for all budget and finance services at the Centre, which include:

  • preparation, implementation and control of the annual budget;
  • accounting (bookkeeping and reporting);
  • treasury (payments and receipts, cash flows, investment of funds);
  • travels;
  • external banking and travel services provided on the premises/campus.
