Biography:
Ms Chiandotto finalized her studies in Pordenone and then moved to Trieste where she specialized in Social Service Nursing. Her professional training was done in the emergency divisions, mainly in First Aid and Cardiology.
She started working at ICTP in 1988 where she set up the ICTP Medical Service, and it was with the Medical Service of IAEA that Ms Chiandotto did her training (ICTP operated under the aegis of IAEA until 1996).
The service started in a small room at the Adriatico Guest House, with just the bare necessity. Today, in a fully equipped area, there are 3 nurses and a Doctor assisting some 5,000 persons per year. Under her supervision the Medical Section is continually expanding.
Responsibility:
Plans and supervises the operational and administrative activities of the ICTP Medical Service. Liaises with local specialists, laboratories and hospitals.
